A family story born in the heart of Varrains
Since 1890, Domaine des Varinelles has embodied a passion for winemaking and the transmission of unique family expertise. It all began with Louis Daheuiller, who laid the foundation of the estate by cultivating a few hectares of vines. His son Jean later took over and played a key role in the creation of the Saumur-Champigny appellation in 1957, marking a pivotal moment for the vineyard.
Claude, the third generation, elevated the estate to new heights, showcasing Saumur wines on the tables of prestigious Parisian restaurants. Laurent continued the family legacy by crafting iconic cuvées and initiating the transition to organic farming in 2011.
Today, Nicolas, representing the fifth generation, carries this legacy forward with passion and innovation, creating wines that reflect the authenticity of the Saumur terroir and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

Valuing and preserving the Saumur’s heritage
In 2011, Laurent and Nicolas, representing the fourth and fifth generations, embarked on the demanding journey of converting to organic farming. This decision reflects their commitment to promoting biodiversity and honoring the rich terroirs of Saumur. With 43 hectares of vineyards spread across iconic sites such as Les Poyeux, Le Bourg, and La Butte de Saumoussay, the challenge is significant, but the results are well worth the effort.
Each cuvée from Domaine des Varinelles represents meticulous craftsmanship and a deep respect for nature. Our wines embody the unique identity of Saumur-Champigny and pay tribute to the exceptional heritage of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
